Education The Galveston Arts Center’s mission includes providing visual arts education and an environment for creative expression. The Art for All Education Outreach Program fosters individual and community growth by encouraging adults and children to explore the creative process in a nurturing environment where they build self-confidence and improve problem-solving skills. Through this initiative, GAC is able to promote the visual arts by bringing the community into the Arts Center through workshops, tours, and classes, as well as by taking GAC into the community in order to reach those who might not otherwise have access to visual arts programs. Classes, which are free of charge to participants, provide artist instructors and supplies to previously underserved populations on the island. We currently offer classes at 10 sites across the island. ![]() GAC’s Art for All Education Program is supported in part by the Harry S. and Isabel C. Cameron Foundation, Wilton and Effie Mae Hebert Foundation, Texas Commission on the Arts, Alice Taylor Gray Foundation, The Smothers Foundation, Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund, and the Jr. League of Galveston County’s Community Assistance Fund.
